Top Ten Proposal Destinations

If this Valentine’s Day has left you with warm fuzzy feelings for your partner and you think it might be time to tie the knot, why not pop the question in one of these popular proposal destinations?

The Grand Canyon, USA

Apparently nothing says I love you like a sheer drop. The six million year old gorge created by the Colorado River might be a frightening 1 mile deep but is still one of the world’s most popular destinations for proposing due to its epic views and special aura.

Rome, Italy

In Italy you can share a piece of spaghetti with your loved one, lovingly push them a meatball with your nose and even propose next to the ancient Trevi fountain. The Fontana di Trevi is strikingly beautiful and would make an incredible back drop for post-proposal, Instagram-able photographs. Florence and Vienna are equally popular Italian destinations.

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

Some people might think its predictable, cliché and impersonal, but proposing at the top of the Eiffel Tower is still hugely popular – despite the fact that Tom Cruise proposed to Katie Holmes there.

The London Eye, UK

There’s a good reason why so many stalls in the UK capital sell ‘I heart London’ T-shirts – London’s awesome. See the city in all its glory and propose to your loved one 135 metres up in the air on the London Eye. You can go the whole hog and rent out a private capsule, organising champagne and nibbles, or you can make it more of a surprise by popping the question in front of a crowd of tourists!

Maya Bay, Koh Phi Phi Ley, Thailand

If nothing short of paradise will do for your proposal Thailand might just be the destination for you. Although the country has a myriad of spectacular beaches to choose from, Maya Bay is thought to have some of Thailand’s most impressive scenery. The downsides to the beach are its lack of accommodation and its popularity, but even if you decide to pop the question somewhere else in Thailand it’s still a must-visit.

Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia

Proposing on or in sight of this world famous landmark would make for a truly memorable proposal. The odds of getting nice weather for your big moment are also higher in Oz!

Taj Mahal, India

As the Emperor Shah Jahan actually had the Taj Mahal built in memory of his wife it really is one of the world’s most iconic symbols of love. Plan your trip for off-season if you want to avoid the worst of the heat and the crowds.

Monaco, France

If you’ve got a few thousand pounds burning a hole in your pocket whisk your (lucky) potential spouse off to Monaco for the proposal. Oozing beauty, money, glamour and celebrity – and home to a real life Prince – Monaco is the place where the rich make their fairy tale endings a reality.

New York, USA

There are a million possible proposal venues in the city that never sleeps, but if you want to go for full on, cheesy romance you have to plan the trip for Christmas time. And it has to be snowing.

Mount Pilatus, Lucerne, Switzerland

Snow capped mountains, breathtaking views and incredibly good hot chocolate are just a few of the bonuses attached to proposing in Switzerland. From Mount Pilatus you can see more than 70 mountains and five lakes, and you may just be able to see your partner saying yes to your proposal.
