Banking in Thailand
There is a wide range of national and international banks in Thailand. The most popular banks among expatriates in the country include Citibank , Deutsche Bank and HSBC Thailand . HBSC tends to be most popular with expatriates as it does not require an annual minimum salary.
The banking sector in Thailand, however, is ruled by big Thai national banks such as Bangkok Bank , Siam Commercial Bank and Krung Thai Bank . To open an account with these banks, you must earn a minimum salary of 50,000 -150,000 Baht per annum or (£1088- £3265). These banks are also popular amongst expatriates.
Banks in Thailand are open from 08:30-15:30, Monday to Friday, except on holidays. Some branches do open at the weekend but these tend to be quite rare.
