Money in Belgium
If you’re thinking of emigrating to Belgium you will have to know what type of currency the country uses. In the case of Ireland the country uses the Euro or the single currency. The Euro is the second most traded currency in the world behind the US Dollar, before you emigrate it is a good idea to seek advice from a trusted currency broker.
There are three major banks in Belgium, although recent buy-outs and mergers have changed some of the names, which are currently ING Bank, Fortis and KBC. Bank account numbers are standardised in Belgium, the first few digits indicating the bank and branch to which the account belongs.
Belgian banks are usually open from 9.00am to 4pm on weekdays and a few are open on Saturdays. The smaller branches tend to close for an hour at lunchtime, usually from 1 to 2pm.
